Pennsylvania Medicaid Cuts Take Effect

The Governor passed a budget on July 6th which includes the following cuts that will impact medicaid recipients on Medical Assistance in KWRU and throughout the state of Pennsylvania:

  • Rehabilitation hospitalizations limited to 1 per year
  • Number of visits to health care providers limited to 18 per year
  • Acute inpatient hospitalizations limited to 1 per year
  • Families with disabled children whose total family income is more than 200% of the federal poverty level will be required to pay a monthly premium to the Department of Public Welfare. The children will continue to receive MA when their parents share the costs.
  • Recipients enrolled in managed care must remain in their plan for 1 year

These cuts are a violation of our human right to health! We will continue to unite with medicaid recipients all across the country in our efforts to reclaim our human rights and stop the systematic dismantling of our health care safety net.

Stay tuned for more information on our health care organizing and upcoming plans.
