World Summit
on the Information Society - First Report
Saturday December 6th
After braving a snow storm
while traveling to Newark International Airport to attend the World Summit
on the Information Society in Switzerland, five members of the KWRU, including
a one year old child, finally arrived at the airport only endure hours
of waiting just to get on a tram to the terminal. All of the trams were
out of order and passengers were so angry that men began fist fighting
just to make it in to the one running tram that was suppossed to carry
every passenger to the main terminal. The members of KWRU worked hard
to ensure that the baby was safe and that they made it to the plane on
time because they had to be in Geneva for an important meeting the next
morning.
Arriving at 9am Geneva time,
3am US time, KWRU went straight to work, scheduling press conferences
and attempting to find housing for the four members KWRU spokesperson
Cheri Honkala brought to the conference using her honorarioum (meant to
fund only one person).
After almost 48 hours with
no sleep and little food, members of the KWRU pressed on and accomplished
all that they set out to do their first day in Switzerland.
