As the Bush Administration
spends $87 billion more on the military and on "rebuilding Iraq,"
thousands of families are homeless this holiday season in Philadelphia.
At 4 pm Tuesday December 2, current homeless families belonging to the
Kensington Welfare Rights Union, and other members of the KWRU will again
raise the need for "HOMES FOR THE HOLIDAYS."
They encourage people to mourn
for the casualties of the war in Iraq, as well as the casualties of the
war at home. The $87 billion being spent on this war is money not being
spent for needs here at home, one of the most urgent being the need of
homeless families for a place to live with their children this holiday
season.
For more information, read
www.kwru.org and see the recent study done by the Affordable Housing Coalition,
of which KWRU is a principal organization, a study by Dennis Culhane which
looks at the serious lack of affordable housing in Philadelphia.
