KWRU PREPARES TO PARTICIPATE
IN MIAMI FTAA DEMONSTRATIONS
In addition to concerns regarding
the past conduct of Miami Chief of Police John Timony, former head of
the Philadelphia Police Department, that faced the KWRU as we made our
way into Miami, we also arrived to find no churches, community centers,
or schools willing to house our members and their children. As always,
the KWRU will not let a housing crisis deter us from making our voices
heard during these critical demonstrations.
After spending years organizing
around the devastating impacts of NAFTA and the destruction we believe
the FTAA will ultimately bring, we are asking people to please send
contributions through our website as we are having to place poor families
anywhere we can right now.
Because we represent the faces
of those impacted by globalization, it's important that not only organized
labor, students and the religious community participate in the demonstrations,
but that the poor themselves are not made to disappear at these events.
If your group is going to Miami
and would like to participate in the KWRU action, meet at Margaret Pace
Park located at Bayshore Drive and NE 18th street on Friday, November
21st at 12pm. For more information please email Cecilia Garza at students@kwru.org.
We thank you for your support.
