Housing Crisis in Philadelphia

Karen
and Michael Carter's house collaped this weekend. The City of Philadelphia
told them that all they could do for them was to put them up in a hotel
for three days. Those three days ended today at 11 am.
The Kensington Welfare Rights
Union has worked with the Carters to get the City to extend their stay
at the hotel by one week. Their insurance that they have been paying for
does not cover their house collapsing in on them. The City won't step
forward to address the situation.
Please help us to house this
family. Checks can be made out to Michael Carter and sent to the KWRU
office at PO Box 50678 Philadelphia PA 19132.
Both Karen and Michael work
full time and were renting to own their house. They have spent $23,000
on their home to date, and now they have nothing. Please help us find
housing for the Carters. Thank you.
