Bushville Erected in Jersey City, New Jersey:

Day 1: June 1
The Poor Peoples Economic Human Rights Campaign moved to set up a Bushville at 420 Grand Street in Jersey City, NJ (map). The encampment was erected in the heart of a poor, racially mixed community. Through the Jersey City Police Department "Homeland Security" have continued to make the poor invisible and to deny them their first amendment rights to protest for basic human rights in the United States. Our children are safe regardless of the threats by the Jersey City Police Department.

We are appealing to anyone that has a listserve/media contacts/independent media contacts/international media contacts to send this information to as many people in this country and around the world.

The voices of the poor who are not surviving need to be heard. Please help us break the Media Blackout.

Despite the rain and mud the familes were able to set up tents and structures

Many members pitched in to get the tens ready for a rainy night.

With new families arriving everyday the Bushville is always in need of Food, Furniture, Blankets, and Matresses.
The Bushville is in need of your participation and support. Please check out our needs list to see how you can help out.
