Cheri Honkala, together with other leaders of the Poor People's
Economic Human Rights Campaign, stood on the front lines of
the massive United for Peace and Justice march through NYC.
March alongside of Michael Moore, Jesse Jackson, over 400,000
strong, the march stretched for miles through downtown New
York.
|

Saturday continued with a series of workshops sponsored by
the University
of the Poor. These workshops gave marchers from around
the country (and world) an opportunity to exchange experiences
and learn new techniques and strategies. In the evening we
previewed a new video by the Media
College on the Poor People's Economic Human Rights Campaign
Group Poor
Voices United.

The marchers joined the Mt. Zion Christian
Church of Christ Disciples Incorporated for
Sunday worship. The congregation led the marchers in a powerful
time of praise and worship. Brother Togo from the CHAM
was invited to give the day's sermon.
|

Additionally we welcomed delegations from Boston, Chicago,
Florida, San Jose, New Jersey, and San Francisco. Our Bushville
has continued to grow and we welcome new groups everyday.

Over
dinner, the University
of the Poor's school of theology led a discussion on the
role of faith and religious communities in building our movement.
Noelle Damico, catalyst of the school, prefaced the discussion
with an overview of the school's activities. Check back soon
for an update on the eduational.
