The past few days have really had a focus on organizing for
our Bushville - which begins Monday, the 23rd - and the March
for Our Lives on the 30th. We have spent every spare minute
churning out hundreds of signs for the day of the march.
|

Tuesday we marched through parts of Queens, passed out fliers,
and did documentation at a few low-income housing projects.
|
| Wednesday
we spent the whole day at Tompkins Square Park in lower Manhattan
with veteran homeless organizer and longtime PPEHRC member,
Ronald Casanova. Cas spoke with our children about the importance
of our march and the right that everyone should have to a life
full of respect and dignity. The children then distributed sandwiches
to the homeless in the park and invited those living in the
park to march with on the 30th. We used the open space in the
back of the park to continue our sign-making. |
Over
the weekend we were hosted by AFSCME DC1707, who let us utilize
their office as an organizing space for calling community groups,
faxing our fliers to soup kitchens and making more signs. We
spent all of Sunday cleaning up the site for Bushville, clearing
away weeds and debris and making it habitable for the expected
hundreds of poor and homeless people from around the country
- and from around the world - who will be arriving throughout
the week. |
