Other updates

Bushville moved to Central Park for the day in order to talk about what is happening to homeless people in New York City in preperation for the Republican National Convention. While the general public has focused on the question of a permit in regards to Central Park another important issue that has been made to disappear from the media is the fact that poor people are being swept from Central Park, other parks and streets in New York City and across the country.

Much of the morning was spent flyering in the park and collecting Faces of the Fallen Documentation from those that joined us.

Ensuring that our message was clear we hung our banner from the bridge and places signs citing poverty statistices around the area.

For the next few hours we passed our flyers to those passing by and continued to register people to vote.

We met one woman who came to this country after her husband was killed in Honduras for speaking out against the goverment. She will be joining us on August 30th.

As the rain began to pour down we put together makeshift rain suits and continued to talk to New Yorkers about our Mobile Bushville

At around 8:30 at night Cheri, Galen, Sara, and Katherine, four members of the Poor People's Economic Human Rights Campaign were arrested while practicing their first amendment rights in a public park, they then went to jail and were handcuffed until 1am in the morning to a metal pole.
