We
spent the first part of the day in Newark, where two of our
members - Amy and Galen - interviewed a woman from the local
Cafeteria Workers Union for the Faces of the Fallen project.
She spoke to the struggles she and her fellow workers face
now that their industry is becoming privatized and workers
are expected to compete with other workers even more, with
less pay.
After picking up some people from New York City at the train
station, we met up with a large group in the city of Bloomfield.
After lunch, the group spent the afternoon doing door-knocking
in the neighborhoods of Bloomfield, letting people know that
we would be marching into the town the next day.

We
spent the night at Christ Episcopal Church in Belleville,
New Jersey. Father Paul arranged for some congregation members
to cook us dinner (thanks, John!), which lifted everyone's
spirits.
