This morning we woke up to the pouring rain which slowed us down but did not stop our March and documentation efforts. First thing in the morning, Cheri was interviewed live on Labor Views, a program of the CWA Local 1081, explaining to the nation why we have no choice but to March for Our Lives, and why we are fighting to stop the war on the poor, the war at home.

In the afternoon, we had an educational about the whys and hows of human rights violations documentation. We told each other our stories, helping us to connect to one another and to our own histories. We then went to Newark's Penn Station to protect ourselves from the drenching rain and were able to talk with many commuters passing through the station. We took down numerous peoples stories-folks who don't have health insurance and who now have $38,000 hospital bills, people whose rights to living wage jobs are violated, leaving them to scrape by and barely pay the bills. We had some great discussions with different people and left saying, "that was a great experience".
We talked with the Communication Workers of America union that was kind enough to house us for two evenings. We saw one of their Labor Talks television programs that showed a demonstration with both social workers and welfare recipients. The union members are social workers who are teaming up with the recipients to fight for good job training and placement programs. The current 'vendors' who are supposed to find jobs for the recipients only find 8% of them jobs. This is an outrageous waste of millions of dollars because few jobs are found for the most vulnerable sectors of the population.

In the evening, we were able to get a cake to celebrate Joe's Birthday. Joe, from People To End Homelessness in Providence, RI, turned 20 and we were happy to celebrate with him.
