Bushville
July 21, Elizabeth NJ/ Espanol

We started the day with an educational on the importance of organizing and documentation and their relationship to building a movement to end poverty.
Joining our Mobile Bushville today was Katherine, Glen and Joe from the organization "People to End Homelessness" from Providence, Rhode Island.

At 10:30 we broke into three organizing teams and targeted three different groups. Cheri and Reo's group talked with church groups. Karla and Galen's group went door to door in the O'Donnell Dempsey Tower and Housing Project. Charles and Nina's group targeted community groups. All the groups registered and educated voters and collected Faces of the Fallen documentation.

After breaking for lunch we spent the afternoon canvasing downtown at the medical centers and more housing projects; documenting violations of human rights and adding to the roles of the Faces of the Fallen. After a discussion and reflection on our day's work we joined the Bible Camp of Mt. Teman AME Church for dinner.

That evening we were hosted by Sister Margaret of Bread of Heaven outreach center. Sister Margaret stayed with us through the night cooked us our first hot meal in three days for breakfast.

Thank you to both churches.

The people of Elizabeth have been very supportive and the stories we gathered today of real people who have been denied their rights to healthcare and have had their right to affordable housing violated many times over, all in the richest country in the world, has strengthened our resolve to continue our March For Our Lives.
