Bushville
Erected in Jersey City, New Jersey
"Poverty in the Land of Plenty"

June 15:

Police demolished Bushville located under the highway underpass at the intersection of Pacific and Grand in Jersey City. After making threats in the early morning, New Jersey State Police arrived while members of the Poor People's Economic Human Rights Campaign were attending a Press Conference.

Tonight across America there are hundreds of bridges that homeless people will be sleeping under. Everytime they take us down we will rebuild Bushville and refuse to be made to disappear.

We need support. Please consider donating items from our Needs List.

While participating in a Press Conference with United For Peace and Justice today, representatives from the Poor People's Economic Human Rights Campaign made it clear that taking away the voice of the poor in this country, at a time with they are fighting for the very survival, is not an option.

Regardless of major efforts made by homeland security to interfere with our March on opening day of the Republican National Covention; we will march with or without a permit; we will march regardless of all the other threats and efforts to make us invisible.

We will continue to reach out to people across our country and the world letting them know the true reality of poverty in America.

***Update From Last Week***
A KWRU member received a citation in the mail today for all the items that were demolished and subsequently hauled away by the City Incineration Department. This will be yet another expense on the long list of legal battles we have ahead of us.

The Poor People's Economic Human Rights Campaign is committed to breaking the silence of the Poor and continuing to organize for the "March For Our Lives" on opening day of the Republican National Convention.
