August 16th, 2003 Dear UNITE, We write this letter on behalf of the Pillowtex workers who have lost their jobs. We started on our journey from Marks, Mississippi and are on our way to Washington, D.C. to set up a week long Bushville. Your fight is our fight as we fight for the basic economic human rights of all Americans. A right to a job, healthcare, and to raise our families with dignity. We would be honored if some of the Pillowtex workers could lead our march into Washington, D.C. on August 23rd. Enclosed is a small donation from a group of poor and homeless people from around the country. We know your pains and we are experiencing them now too. Together we can fight for a better America free from the economic human rights abuses caused by NAFTA and the current administration. Myself and the three others were arrested in NAFTAVILLE stand trial here in Kannapolis on October 17, 2003. We will be in touch. As Mother Jones said 'Let us pray for the dead and keep on fighting for the living.' In Solidarity, Cheri Honkala on behalf of the Poor People's Campaign
