We were honored to be joined on our march by Camila Bonassa representing the MST, the Landless Workers' Movement of Brazil. The MST is the largest movement of the poor in the hemisphere, and one of the largest in the world - 250,000 families living in encampments and permament settlements won through land takeovers, across Brazil.

Tenemos el honor de darle la bienvenida a Camila Bonassa del MST, el Movimiento Sin Tierra, de Brazil. El MST es el movimiento mas grande de pobres del hemisferio, y una de las mas grandes del mundo - integrado por 250,000 familias que viven en campamentos y en asentamientos permanentes ganados por tomas de tierra, en todas partes de Brazil.

As we march on Washington DC on August 23, 2003 to protest economic human rights violations committed by our government and by corporations, we will need the eyes of the world to be on us, as we, the poor of the United States, carry our struggle and your struggle to Washington. We are asking the world community to stand in unity with the movement of the poor of the United States on this day, by holding an "International day of action: a call for an end to poverty in the United States and worldwide" in unity with the Poor People's March for Economic Human Rights.

The historic march "National Poor People's March for Economic Human Rights" which will take place in the US from August 2nd through the 20th of this year, is being organized by the Poor People's Campaign for Economic Human Rights, headed by Kensington Welfare Rights Union, a member organization of COMPA and the Coordinating Committee (COCO). In recognition of the urgent need to organize the poor in the US, the COCO has decided that COMPA's participation in this march is a key part of the strategic plan for COMPA this year.

Esta marcha histórica "La Marcha Nacional de los Pobres por los Derechos Humanos Económicos" que tendrá lugar en los EEUU DEL 2 A 20 DE AGOSTO de este año, está siendo organizada por La Campana de los Pobres por los Derechos Humanos Económicos, que esta encabezada por el Kensington Welfare Rights Union, organización miembro de COMPA y de la COCO. En reconocimiento de la necesidad urgente de organizar a los pobres en los EEUU, la COCO ha decidido que la participación de COMPA en esta marcha es parte clave del plan estratégico de COMPA para este año.

El domingo 17 de agosto habrá una asamblea nacional de la APC de la R.D. de cara a la III Asamblea de los Pueblos del Caribe que se celebrará en Haití y desde la misma promoveremos una declaración de apoyo a la marcha de los pobres de los Estados Unbidos.

Y en término inmediato el Colectivo de Organizaciones Populares de la República Dominicana se solidariza e identifica con esta gran marcha que ustedes están haciendo y que culminará el 23 de agosto en Washington DC.

We the Democratic Union of Roma Alba—Alba Iulia—Romania with this letter we show our support to the Poor People Economic Human Right Campaign. We protest against human rights violations. We stand in UNITY with the movement of the poor of United States and worldwide on this day.

El 10 de Diciembre del 2.003, se cumplirá 55 años de la vigencia de la Declaración Universal a los Derechos Humanos.

Nosotros en Costa Rica, justo el 23 de agosto tenemos la IV Asamblea Nacional de organizciones populares contra el LIbre Comercio, asi que incorporaremos este punto como parte de nuestra agenda y estara presente nuestro apoyo y solidaridad en esta sesion.
