December 5th - Springfield, MA

As a snowstorm blanketed the Northeast, the Freedom Bus made its way from New Jersey to Springfield, Massachusetts. A five hour drive stretched to over eleven hours.

Michael Ann from ARISE for Social Justice welcomed the weary bus riders to a potluck dinner and community forum.

Professor Preston Smith, of Holyoke College, spoke about the Labor Party's Campaign for the right to free education.

ARISE and some of its allies performed a skit which demonstrated some of the bureaucratic barriers people in need face to getting any support.

New Freedom Riders continue to join the Bus Tour, including KWRU President Katie Engle.

Cheri Honkala spoke on the need to continue building organization amongst those suffering economic human rights violations.

Wayne and Shawn of the United Workers Association shared some of their struggles and hopes in organizing low-wage temp workers.
