The Poor People's Economic Human Rights Campaign vs. the United States.

[January 31, 2005] The Inter American Commission on Human Rights has granted the Poor People's Economic Human Rights Camaign's request for a hearing, and scheduled it for Mar. 4, 4.15-5.15 pm. Read Letter

The following is a formal request for a hearing by the PPEHRC Legal Committee to the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights of the Organization of American States (OAS), for a hearing before that body. The PPEHRC accuses the US government of human rights violations on the issues of social security (welfare in the US), health care and housing. (Read the case in word form.

Judge Modifies Stay Away Order From City Hall

On Monday March 16, 2004 five members of KWRU stood before the court facing charges of criminal trespass and a stay away order from city hall. When going before the judge our attorney entered a second motion to eliminate the stay away order from city hall on the grounds that it was unconstitutional, instead the judge modified the stay away order to allow use of City Hall during regular business hours. More

Poor Peoples Economic Human Rights Campaign Documentation Project

This is a great project for poor people organizing in welfare offices, downsized workers and union members, caseworkers and students. Some social work professors are using this documentation as a class project.

We're looking for

  • Compelling cases that can be brought to the attention of the UN
  • Cases that represent the diversity of issues reflected in UDHR articles 23, 25, and 26
  • Cases that represent the diversity of constituencies experiencing economic human rights abuses in this country.
